About us

La Cava is an intimate wine bar where thoughtfully selected wines meet Mediterranean-inspired small plates. Our menu brings together fresh seafood, artisanal cheeses, charcuterie, and simple dishes designed to pair beautifully with the glass.

Behind La Cava is owner Ladislav Kulisek, whose passion for wine began in the historic wine regions of the Czech Republic. After years in New York’s restaurant world, he created La Cava as his most personal project—a place inspired by a lifelong love of wine, hospitality, and the European tradition of gathering around the table.

Following La Cava, Ladislav went on to open two sister restaurants in the Nomad: Local Bazar, a lively tapas bar known for its traditional paellas, and Mamazul, a vibrant Mexican grill celebrating bold flavors and colorful cuisine.

Overseeing the floor at La Cava is his younger brother Marek, who carefully curates the wine selection and brings warmth and personality to the bar each night. For many of our regulars, Marek is more than a manager—he’s a familiar face and a reminder that the best wine experiences are built not only on great bottles, but on genuine hospitality.

Together, the brothers bring their European roots and passion for wine to Midtown, creating a place where guests can slow down, share a glass, and feel at home.
